Please note information below reference double headers:
Some leagues have asked referees that if a player is sent off during the first match of a double header, that the player concerned should not be allowed to take part in the second match. I have taken this up with County as this does not seem to be the correct course of action, please see below information:
A player sent off in the first game of a double-header cannot be prevented from playing in the second game unless the player assaulted a person in the first match or prior to the second match starting in which case SCFA would support the interim suspension. However SCFA would take a very dim view of this action being taken lightly; in fact if the assault was so serious as to warrant an interim suspension then I would suggest that the second game may not be played anyway especially if the assault was on the referee.
If a referee or other person prevents a sent off player from playing in the second game, the club is likely to have the right of appeal to the league and then SCFA and would likely be successful in the appeal.
If you are requested or instructed to take such action by your respective league please refer them to the above guidance. Vince |
